Census Data
Census Block Definition
Census Blocks are the critical link to the FCC, NTIA and Census relationships.

Each Census Block is identified using the 2010 Tiger/Line Block state shapefile. The block identification is a concatenation of Census 2010 State FIPS code, county code, census tract and block number. Census-NBM enhances and enables the location for each geographic areas: State, County, Census Tract and Census Block number.

A census block is the smallest geographic unit for which the Census Bureau tabulates the data. Many blocks correspond to individual city blocks bounded by streets, but blocks - especially in rural areas may include many square miles and may have some boundaries that are not streets. The data on the National Broadband Bap is displayed at the census block level for all census blocks that are less than two square miles in size.
